In May 2015 the European Commission published the strategy to achieve a Digital Single Market in the European Union. One of its main objectives is to promote the reform of the regulation of the telecommunication sector to support the deployment of high-speed networks in Europe, critical condition for the growth and development of a new digital ecosystem.

With the aim of assessing the possible existing conditions, the ITRE (Industry, Research and Energy) Committee and the Directorate-General for Internal Policies of the European Parliament have commissioned to Quanticae the preparation of the report Reforming EU Telecom Rules to Create a Digital Union, in which is detailed the current state of the sector regulation in Europe, the future challenges to be faced and the different options that could be adopted, evaluated on the basis of a criteria defined. The study ends up with a number of recommendations about the regulatory changes needed to boost the deployment of new-generation networks in Europe.
