This study analyses the foreign trade and foreign investment in the ICT sector during 2015 and its evolution since 2011 as well. Quanticae has collaborated in the elaboration of this study promoted by the National Observatory for Telecommunications and the Information Society (ONTSI) dependent on Red.es.
Regarding foreign trade in goods and services, it is worth stressing that the sector maintains its growth during the last year, with the volume of imports reaching 19,348 million euros and the export figures of 13,032 million euros, which correspond to 13.1% and 7.1% higher than in 2014 respectively. The negative trade balance was mainly due to external dependency on ICT goods acquisition, because of the concentration of the production and export in few countries.
In relation to investment, the gross foreign direct investment in the Spanish ICT sector is set up to 690 million euros, which represents 3% of the total foreign investment in Spain, whilst the Spanish ICT sector investment in foreign companies rose to 746 million euros in 2015, more than two percentage points over total Spanish investment abroad.
